Hi all,
I need some help with the Fedora 4 installation and update
process.
I am currently using Fedora 4, but still have msw2000 for some
necessary tools only available for that system. My msw2000 disk
died, a new disk was put in, re-installation completed, and
restore completed. I then got to re-installing Fedora 4.
When the second, full install was done (the partial install would
not allow some later additions of some items...but that's a bug
report), I went to get the full updates. After 2 hours of the
process with an estimated 4 remaining, I got some shuteye. When
I got back to the system, it had hung.
Fedora 4 boots fine, but the updates seem to be partially done
and not going any further forward. When I start 'Red Hat
Network Alert Notification Tool,' I get a 'Critical Information'
msg:
Your system is currently running kernel-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4,
but the newest installed kernel is kernel-2.6.12-1.1398_FC4.
It is recommended that you reboot at the first opportunity
to test this new kernel.
However, the bootloader only shows the original kernel option
(previous times the kernel was updated, the boot list would show
both the original and newer kernel).
When I 'Launch up2date,' I get walked through the various steps
until it asks if 'system-config-netboot' should be updated.
When I click 'Forward,' a Warning msg. is displayed and I end up
having to cancel the update:
Test install failed because of package conflicts:
package system-config-netbook-0.1.26-1_FC4 is already installed
Anyone know a way to get Fedora to redo the updates without
having to go through the full install again? Maybe just emptying
out /var/spool/up2date and restarting the updates?
Thanks,
Lee A. N.
