[OT] How to get calling number when CallerID reports "unknown"

Okay, this is way off topic.  My appologies.  I only ask it here because it's 
about phone systems and the legal system and I figured there are a few of you 
that might be able to provide a little info.

How do I go about getting the calling number from the phone company when my 
CallerID reports it is "unknown"?  Actually, it's my office's internal phone 
system reporting it as "External Call - Unknown Number", but since I see all 
other numbers I assume this has something to do with CallerID blocking.

I doubt I can just give the phone company a call.  I probably need a lawyer. 
And what justification do I need?  And what type of lawyer do I need?  Are 
there any websites that you recommend?  A Google just gave me lots of stuff on 
CallerID and telemarketers and I was getting no where wading through it.
