  If they actually saved bandwidth, that would be something.  But from
what I've read, a lot of these so-called "accelerators" are just bad
implementations of a bad design.  They preemptively and
non-selectively hammer web servers in the vague hope that you might
end up wanting one of the things they pre-fetch.  And then they end up
being buggy, and end up downloading everything multiple times and/or
never caching anything.

  I remember when these things hit the dial-up scene, and they sucked
then, too.  :)

  (Note that I'm not saying one cannot implement a decent web
accelerator.  Just that it's rarer than an honest politician.)
